New Is The New Old
Just because the label says “New” does not mean anything has changed.
Except, perhaps, the label.
Even when you honestly believe that how you perceive something to be the way it actually is, does not necessarily mean that it actually is that way.
People have moved - and I speak of modern times since 1620 - to Cape Cod to get away from places they found undesirable for one reason or another usually. The Pilgrims came to North America to practice their religious beliefs in peace. They ended up in Plymouth [just off-Cape], got tired of traveling where they were originally headed, and settled down on some ‘unused’ land. Very soon afterwards, splinter groups left that settlement to do the same elsewhere. One of the first rebel groups moved to the southeast a bit to a place that Bartholomew Gosnold
had named years earlier because of the abundance of a certain type of fish in the surrounding waters, Cape Cod.
The name stuck, the codfish have since left.
